Fixed-speed fans in growing rooms

1 февраля 2014

climate

Good afternoon.

In the enterprise for growing button mushrooms that we rented there are old fans which always operate with the same power. Is it going to be the reason for drying mushrooms and peat? How to work with this equipment?

Moreover, what is better for processing used compost without steam curing system? Thank you in advance.

Compost preparation Phase 1

23 февраля 2011

compost, climate

Greetings i want to ask a few questions..
First when preparing compost for industrial mushroom farming in large bins (around 20-30 cubic meters) is it better using passive aeration system( mainly pipes and tubes, or turning) or active system (flushing air in the pipes and tubes)? How much air should i flush and how long should i do it? At what temperature it is better to turn the compost? Thank you in advance/
Best Regards

mushroom caps opened

24 января 2011

climate, growing technology

Is lack of oxygen the only reason for mushroom caps opened when mushrooms small - ca 3-4 cm diameter?

How often should mushrooms be picked and at what size?

Are white agaricus mushrooms marketable when caps opened? I know brown agaricus is sold when caps opened and called partabella

Best wishes,
Kristina

low yield

2 января 2011

climate, growing technology

Hello,

What could be the reason for low yield? We get 2-3 kg mushrooms from 1 m2. Our substrate recipe is ok, spawn is good (it is said to give up to 35 kg/m2), growing rooms are clean. Could it be only the pasteurization - we can only heat our substrate 24 hours and maximum temperature will be 45-48`C. Could it be only ventilation - we can ventilate the growing room maybe only 8 times/24 hours.

Substrate is in bags, about 25 cm and casing 3 cm. No scratching (loosening).

We get mushrooms during 2-2,5 months and we have to cut them every day - we do not have breaks. Our mushroom beds are not filled with many mushrooms as it should be.
