Cultivation in containers

This system is spread throughout America, Canada and Australia. There, wooden containers especially made for mushroom production are used, which are exposed to special treatment against mold.

In Russia, only a few farms use the container system. Former vegetable containers or containers especially made by the request of a certain farm are most often used. The use of a container system almost fully mechanizes the mushroom cultivation process. Placing the compost in different containers prevents the diseases and mushroom pests from spreading. This, in addition to the ability to carry out the phases of mushroom growth in different rooms, makes this technology very appealing in the view of sanitation and hygiene, provided that there’s a solution to the cleaning, disinfecting and storing the containers problem.

Perhaps the only and most important disadvantage of this system is the high cost of the equipment for filling the containers with compost and unloading it, applying the casing layer, plus the cost of the containers themselves.
