Hi all. I'm growing portabello mushrooms in Kenya. I have encountered a problem where the spawn run has gone quite well but the mycelium will not penetrate the casing layer. I have noticed some fly infestation. Can I apply insecticides at this stage (12 days after casing) to save the crop?

12 days after casing you should have fruit bodies/mycelium present on your casing layer. I would not apply insecticides if you do. Are you using CI/CAC in your casing layer? There must be something wrong with your casing layer if your mycelium is not growing in it. Moisture, p/h, etc?
